Authenticated code execution via unchecked submit-url copy
Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Edimax EW-7438RPn 1.31 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted HTTP request. The formrefresh handler copies the unbounded submit-url field into a stack local, overwriting the function return address. Valid low-privileged access to the management web interface is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a persistent service crash.
