CVE-2026-9479Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated service crash via unchecked submit-url copy

Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026

Stack-based buffer overflow in Edimax EW-7438RPn 1.31 allows remote authenticated users to crash its web service via HTTP. The formLogout handler in the webs binary copies an overlong submit-url value into a local stack variable without length validation, overwriting the saved return address. Access to the HTTP management interface with valid Basic authentication is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a persistent router service crash, not code execution.
