CVE-2026-94655Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Service interruption via unbounded quadratic JSON parsing

Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Apache Thrift Lua bindings before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt services through oversized JSON values. TJSONProtocol.readJSONString and readJSONNumericChars append each parsed byte to a growing Lua string without enforcing a size limit, while readJSONBase64 repeatedly concatenates decoded chunks. Exposure requires an application to process attacker-controlled JSON protocol messages; excessive CPU and memory use interrupts message processing without a reported ability to read or change data.
