Superuser escalation via incomplete group authorization
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Incorrect authorization in authentik affected releases allows remote authenticated users with delegated management rights to gain superuser access. Group membership and hierarchy checks omit inherited superuser status or inspect only a group's own setting, while group role assignment performs no permission check. Only deployments that delegate group, membership, or user management to non-administrators are exposed; exploitation grants control reserved for superusers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
