Authenticated code execution via unchecked connection values
Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Edimax EW-7438RPn 1.31 allows remote authenticated users to crash the device or execute arbitrary code. The formConnectionSetting handler copies oversized max_Conn or timeOut POST values into a local stack variable without bounds checks, overwriting its return address. Access to the browser-based management interface and valid credentials are required; the demonstrated request persistently interrupts service.
