Root escalation via CLI environment manipulation
Published Oct 8, 2026 · Updated Oct 8, 2026
Privilege escalation in Brocade Communications Systems Fabric OS before 9.2.2d and 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 lets local users gain root via CLI. The CLI authorization handler accepts attacker-controlled process environment state when performing RBAC validation, allowing the check to be bypassed. Exploitation requires an authenticated user or local process able to manipulate that environment; a successful bypass grants root privileges on the switch.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
