SMS disclosure and transmission via forged pairing
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Missing authentication in MrPear DesktopSMS 1.11.0 and earlier allows local users to read and transmit SMS through its local service. The pairing-result receiver accepts an unauthenticated external result for an attacker-selected DeviceGuid and treats that identity as paired. An installed Android app with only the INTERNET permission can then access SMS-derived content, send SMS, and retain the forged identity without user interaction.
