Private-IP request forgery via allow-listed DNS resolution
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Server-side request forgery in Vercel Next.js 16.0.0 through 16.3.7 lets remote attackers reach private IPs via Image Optimization. The image optimizer accepts a remote URL matching images.remotePatterns but does not constrain the address to which its hostname resolves before fetching it. Exploitation requires an allow-listed host with attacker-controlled DNS; applications without images.remotePatterns are not affected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
