Sandbox escape via forged D-Bus reply serial
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Message-filter bypass in xdg-dbus-proxy before 0.1.9 allows local users running sandboxed apps to execute code outside the sandbox. The proxy treats a method call or signal carrying a reply serial as an authorized reply and fails to bind a purported reply to its original caller. Exploitation requires a malicious or compromised app using the proxy to access the local D-Bus session bus; the bypass can cross the app's sandbox boundary.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
