Authenticated service interruption via excessive allocation

Published Sep 26, 2026 · Updated Sep 26, 2026

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Elastic Elasticsearch allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service through excessive allocation. Elastic has not published the request, API, or code path that performs the excessive allocation, so the concrete allocation trigger remains undisclosed. All configurations in the affected 8.x and 9.x ranges are exposed; the published impact is service interruption without reported data disclosure or modification.
