Subscriber-level script execution via decoded display names
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Stored DOM-based XSS in WordPlus Better Messages 3.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via display names. WordPress accepts an entity-encoded payload in a display name, and the plugin decodes that stored value before inserting it into rendered messaging content. Subscriber-level access is sufficient; script execution occurs when another user opens a page containing the affected identity.
