DOM-based XSS via contextual-menu innerHTML assignment
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
DOM-based XSS in MISP before 2.5.47 allows attackers to execute JavaScript within an authenticated user’s browser. The ContextualMenu class assigns attacker-influenced option labels from value.text or value to innerHTML, causing the browser to parse them as active markup instead of text. A victim must open a contextual menu containing the crafted value; the script then runs in the MISP origin and can access session-visible data or perform actions with that user’s privileges.
