CVE-2026-94285Hinoki check available

X client crash via codeset parser overread

Published Sep 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 28, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in X.Org libX11 before 1.8.14 allows attackers controlling an X server to crash connected X clients. The byte-oriented codeset parser reads beyond its input boundary; the public CNA record does not identify the exact missing bounds check. A client must connect to the malicious X server and process its data, and the documented outcome is a client crash rather than code execution.
