CVE-2026-94282Hinoki check available

Client crash via out-of-bounds XI2 cookie conversion

Published Sep 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 28, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in X.Org libXi before 1.8.4 allows remote attackers controlling an X server to crash attached X clients via XI2 events. The enter, leave, and focus cookie conversion reads beyond X-server-supplied event data; the upstream patch was inaccessible, so the precise missing bounds check is undisclosed. Exploitation requires a client to process events from the malicious X server, and the established consequence is a client crash.
