Account takeover via unbound OTP verification
Published Oct 10, 2026 · Updated Oct 10, 2026
Authentication bypass in SMS Alert before 4.0.1 allows remote attackers to take over user accounts through the Login with OTP flow. The login flow accepts a verified one-time code without checking that it belongs to the account being signed in. Exploitation requires reachable OTP login functionality, an attacker-controlled phone for the challenge, and a target account with a stored phone number; administrator accounts are included.
