2FA bypass via authentication session restart

Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026

Authentication bypass in Red Hat build of Keycloak allows remote authenticated users to skip client-policy-enforced 2FA setup. The session restart endpoint clears authentication-session markers that record required actions when a crafted restart link is opened during login. An administrator must enforce stronger authentication through a client policy, after which a password-authenticated user can gain access without completing 2FA setup.
