BEAM node crash via unsafe atom filter coercion
Published Oct 5, 2026 · Updated Oct 5, 2026
Denial of service in Ash Framework before 3.34.3 allows remote attackers to crash a BEAM node via crafted atom-attribute filters. During filter comparison, Ash.Type.Atom falls back to cast_input/2, which interns each distinct string when unsafe_to_atom? is true, eventually exhausting the permanent atom table. Exploitation requires an application to expose attacker-controlled filtering of a public atom attribute configured with that constraint; the crash interrupts every application on the affected node.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
