TLS shutdown via session-ticket extension confusion
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Ticket parsing in Erlang/OTP ssl allows remote attackers to crash the client ticket store via crafted TLS 1.3 server messages. tls_handshake_1_3 decodes NewSessionTicket extensions as EncryptedExtensions, accepting an empty early_data value that get_max_early_data cannot handle. Automatic session-ticket management and later resumption are required; repeated store crashes exceed supervisor restart limits and shut down ssl across the node.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
