Authenticated command execution via unescaped filenames
Published Sep 20, 2026 · Updated Sep 20, 2026
OS command injection in James Heinrich getID3() before 1.9.26 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary system commands. Shell-out handlers in getid3.php, write.vorbiscomment.php, and module.audio.shorten.php concatenate filename arguments into shell_exec() command strings without escapeshellarg(). Exploitation requires an embedding application to process an attacker-controlled filename through an affected handler; commands run with the PHP process privileges.
