Authenticated RCE via unchecked privileged template import
Published Sep 20, 2026 · Updated Sep 20, 2026
Improper privilege management in MCPHub 1.0.32 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through template import. The importTemplate function persists attacker-controlled stdio command and args fields without applying isPrivilegedServerConfig, and enabling the resulting server passes them to child_process.spawn. Any non-admin account can reach the endpoint; successful exploitation executes code with the MCPHub process user's access to files, secrets, and services.
