Authenticated command execution via shell-interpolated URL
Published Sep 20, 2026 · Updated Sep 20, 2026
Command injection in Nexus MCP at commit aed0026e7ac1f23dc940e46e9fd3a2da6904f914 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands. The nexus_reauth tool embeds its user-controlled url argument in a platform-specific command string that src/auth/browser.ts executes with child_process.exec, allowing shell metacharacters to escape the quoted URL. Access to the MCP interface is required, and injected commands run with the privileges of the Nexus MCP process.
