Realm takeover via unchecked group membership changes
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Missing authorization in the Admin REST API of Red Hat build of Keycloak allows remote authenticated users to gain realm-admin privileges. The group-membership endpoints add a user without checking whether the target group maps administrative roles. Exploitation requires manage-users delegation and a pre-existing group that maps administrative roles; success grants full control of the affected realm.
