Unauthenticated revenue injection via unverified client secret
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Improper authentication in OpenPanel allows remote attackers with a public client ID to inject forged revenue events through POST /track. Through commit bad75bddc74d12d36cfb843f4531d3b830a8d994, validateSdkRequest treats any nonempty client secret as trusted before hash verification and can return after the CORS-origin check. A public client ID and dummy secret therefore bypass revenue restrictions and bot filtering, corrupting project analytics without disclosing data or interrupting service.
