Pre-authentication service crash via undersized Diameter header
Published Sep 20, 2026 · Updated Sep 20, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in the CDP receiver in affected Kamailio releases allows remote attackers to crash CDP-enabled nodes. receiver.c trusts a Diameter header length below 20, allocates that many shared-memory bytes, then copies the complete 20-byte header into the smaller buffer. Any TCP peer that can reach an enabled Diameter interface can trigger the overwrite before capabilities exchange or application authentication; the demonstrated consequence is process abort and node shutdown.
