Stored XSS via unescaped search highlight text
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Stored XSS in PHP-FTS 1.1.0 through 1.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser. The buildHighlights method concatenates attacker-controlled document-field words with HTML highlight tags without applying HTML escaping. Exploitation requires an application to index attacker-controlled content, enable highlighting, and render returned highlights as HTML; a victim viewing the results then runs the injected script.
