Unauthenticated Author escalation via unchecked credential provisioning
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Privilege escalation in iHomefinder Optima Express IDX 8.7.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain the WordPress Author role. The unauthenticated ihf_clear_cache AJAX path reaches provisionBlogCredentials(), which assigns Author to the account named optima-express without capability, nonce, or ownership checks. Exploitation requires open registration and prior control of that username, granting post-publishing, file-upload, and post-editing capabilities.
