Forged administrator messages via missing CSRF validation
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Cotonti through 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to send forged contact messages to administrators. The contact handler in plugins/contact/contact.php accepts the rtext POST field and calls cot_mail without invoking cot_check_xg to validate an anti-CSRF token. Exploitation requires a victim to visit an attacker-controlled page that auto-submits the form; authenticated and guest visitors can both be used to originate forged messages.
