Unsafe kernel memory access via stale HID++ pointer
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux branches before 6.12.111 or 6.18.53 allows attackers to access freed kernel memory via unspecified vectors. In hidpp_connect_event(), an input_register_device() failure frees the input device but leaves hidpp->input pointing to the released object. The error requires HID++ device connection and registration failure; published material does not establish attacker control or a resulting crash or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
