Kernel memory corruption via premature RCU free
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel perf subsystem before 6.12.111 and 6.18.53 allows local users to trigger unsafe kernel memory access. __free_event() frees event->addr_filter_ranges before the RCU grace period, while concurrent perf iterators can still access that array. Reachability requires local perf-events access, address-filter-capable hardware, and a teardown race; a successful trigger can crash the kernel or corrupt kernel memory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
