Kernel crash via unchecked WoWLAN packet length
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Integer underflow in Linux's iwlwifi MVM WoWLAN handler allows attackers controlling Wi-Fi firmware to crash the kernel during resume. The iwl_mvm_report_wakeup_reasons function subtracts header and cryptographic overhead from a firmware-supplied packet length without first validating the remaining size, then passes that length to skb_put_data. Reachability requires an Intel iwlwifi MVM device with power management and WoWLAN enabled; a malformed firmware length causes an out-of-bounds copy during resume.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
