Kernel crash via aligned TLV length underflow
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Integer underflow in the iwlwifi firmware parser in Linux before 6.12.111 or before 6.18.53 allows attackers to crash the kernel. The iwl_parse_tlv_firmware function validates an unaligned TLV payload length but subtracts its larger four-byte-aligned length, wrapping the remaining byte count and permitting out-of-bounds parsing. Triggering requires an Intel iwlwifi device and control of a firmware image loaded during driver probe, an operation normally restricted to privileged users.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
