Authenticated file read via failed base-path containment
Published Oct 16, 2026 · Updated Oct 16, 2026
Path traversal in Tainacan 1.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read server files via the guid parameter. The background-process REST controller's containment check becomes ineffective when realpath() fails for the missing uploads/tainacan directory and the base path becomes an empty string. Exploitation requires Subscriber-level access or higher and that directory's absence; disclosure is limited to files readable by the server process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
