Server-side JavaScript injection via string query criteria
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Code injection in MongoDB Mongoid allows remote attackers to execute database-side JavaScript through string-typed query criteria. The query builder passes a string criterion to MongoDB as a server-side JavaScript expression instead of restricting it to the strict operator allowlist. Exploitation requires an application to place attacker-controlled input in that query argument and can disclose stored fields, influence document selection for writes, or reduce database performance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.0.0 <=8.0.12
- Affected versionversion=8.1.0 <=8.1.12
- Affected versionversion=9.0.0 <=9.0.11
