Process termination via poisoned length counter
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Denial of service in NV CSSOM 0.5.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to terminate a Node.js process via crafted CSS. CSSStyleDeclaration.setProperty() stores a declaration named length directly on its instance, replacing the internal counter used as the cssText loop bound. Reachability requires a service to parse attacker-controlled CSS; serialization then drives excessive allocation and an uncatchable out-of-memory process abort.
