Cross-tenant disclosure via unscoped user ID queries
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Authorization bypass in Mealie before 3.21.0 allows remote authenticated users to read other users' ratings and favorites. The ratings and favorites GET routes pass the URL user ID directly to RepositoryUserRatings.get_by_user(), which filters only on that ID without an ownership or tenant check. Any account can cross group and household boundaries to disclose private recipe IDs, rating values, favorite flags, target user IDs, and rating IDs.
