Prefill process crash via orphan transfer state
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Uncontrolled resource allocation in SGLang 0.5.19 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash prefill processes via POST /generate. The Mooncake prefill bootstrap thread accepts arbitrary bootstrap_room values and creates transfer_infos entries that no cleanup path removes when no KV chunk arrives. A reachable decode endpoint in prefill/decode disaggregation mode is required; repeated unique values exhaust memory until the kernel terminates the prefill process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
