Browser script execution via query-plan table alias
Published Oct 7, 2026 · Updated Oct 7, 2026
Stored XSS in Apache Impala 2.7.0 through 4.5.2 allows remote authenticated users with SELECT access to run script in another user's browser. A table alias supplied in an SQL query is retained in its query plan and rendered by the impalad Web UI without neutralizing executable JavaScript. The attacker needs only SELECT permission, but execution requires another user to open the affected query plan in the Web UI.
