CVE-2026-93657Network attack vector

DNS record forgery via obscured validation failures

Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026

Improper DNSSEC validation in Hickory DNS hickory-resolver before 0.26.2 allows remote attackers to accept forged DNS records. Resolver::lookup() and Resolver::lookup_ip() return successful results instead of errors when record proofs are bogus, obscuring validation failure. Exploitation requires DNSSEC validation to be enabled and control of the answering zone or a network-path position, and the consequence is DNS answer integrity loss.
