Rendering hang via unbounded tiling-pattern loop
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Denial of service in Poppler's Splash backend allows attackers to hang a rendering process by supplying a crafted PDF. SplashOutputDev::tilingPatternFill derives an attacker-controlled repeat count from near-int32-boundary tiling geometry and passes it into a scanline loop without limiting validation. Exploitation requires an application to render the malicious file through the Splash backend, causing sustained 100% CPU use and a rendering-process hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
