Request smuggling via truncated chunk-size parsing
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
HTTP request smuggling in Netty netty-codec-http allows remote attackers to bypass access controls via malformed HTTP/1.1 chunks. HttpObjectDecoder accepts post-digit whitespace inside a chunk-size token, stops parsing at that byte, and leaves the remaining line unvalidated. In proxy/backend paths that parse the malformed line differently, versions 4.1.90.Final through 4.1.137.Final and 4.2.13.Final through 4.2.17.Final can split one stream into a second unauthorized request.
