Security control bypass via Host authority overwrite
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
HTTP authority confusion in Red Hat Data Grid 8 allows remote attackers to bypass proxy or gateway controls with conflicting host data. Netty HttpConversionUtil.toHttp2Headers reads a conflicting HTTP/1 Host header and writes it as HTTP/2 :authority instead of preserving the absolute-form request-target authority. Exploitation requires a deployment that checks the request-target before this conversion; it can cross host or tenant boundaries, poison caches, or misroute requests.
