Authorization bypass via Extended CONNECT downgrading
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Improper input validation in Netty allows remote attackers to bypass routing or authorization policies with Extended CONNECT requests. The HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 HttpConversionUtil paths replace the request URI with :authority while dropping :protocol and :path during HTTP/1.1 object conversion. Impact requires a gateway, proxy, or application server that feeds HTTP/2 or HTTP/3 traffic through these adapters and enforces policy on the converted object.
