Access-control bypass via trimmed RTSP method tokens
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Improper RTSP method parsing in Netty netty-codec-http allows remote attackers to bypass access controls with control-byte-suffixed tokens. RtspMethods.valueOf trims trailing control bytes before its cached-method lookup, so RtspDecoder converts a malformed token into a trusted method singleton. Exploitation requires a Netty RTSP server or proxy whose authorization or routing depends on the decoded method; affected proxies can forward a clean request.
