Response smuggling via signed length decoding
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Numeric conversion errors in Netty netty-codec-memcache allow remote attackers controlling a Memcached server to smuggle responses. The binary request and response decoders read unsigned key and extras lengths as signed Java values, causing the extras check and body-length arithmetic to leave bytes unconsumed and cross frame boundaries. Exploitation requires a client using the binary codec to accept a crafted server response, after which data from one response stream can bleed into another.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
