Administrator account creation via REST nonce bypass
Published Oct 4, 2026 · Updated Oct 4, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in CoCart 4.9.0 through 4.9.6 allows remote attackers to create an administrator account via WordPress REST requests. CoCart's REST authentication filter handles routes outside CoCart and bypasses WordPress core nonce verification for those requests. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to visit an attacker-controlled page; the resulting account has administrator privileges.
