Client crash via out-of-bounds device-list read
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in X.Org libXi before 1.8.4 allows malicious X servers to crash an attached X client through XListInputDevices(). XListInputDevices() processes a crafted device-list reply from the server and reads beyond the reply's valid bounds. Exploitation requires an attached client to call the affected function while connected to a malicious or compromised X server, and the reported consequence is termination of that client rather than server disruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
