Remote service crash via unlimited SPDY streams
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Netty's SpdySessionHandler allows remote attackers to crash affected Red Hat services over SPDY. The handler accepts unlimited remote-initiated streams because localConcurrentStreams defaults to Integer.MAX_VALUE, so unfinished SYN_STREAM frames retain unbounded heap and direct-memory allocations. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the service must use Netty's SPDY handler; successful exploitation ends in JVM OutOfMemoryError and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
