Authenticated code execution via unchecked command copy
Published May 24, 2026 · Updated May 24, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Edimax EW-7438RPn through 1.31 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via /goform/mp. The mp handler copies the command form value into a fixed-size stack local without a length check, overwriting its return address. Access to the browser management interface and valid credentials are required; an oversized value can crash the device or redirect execution.
