Cross-user note access via unchecked user ID
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
IDOR in Academy LMS 3.8.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to access and alter other users' lesson data via AJAX. The save_lesson_note, get_lesson_note, and complete_lesson_video handlers trust a supplied user_id when reading or changing user-scoped records without verifying ownership or authorization. Subscriber-level access suffices to read, overwrite, or delete private lesson notes and falsify another user's lesson-completion progress.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
