Account takeover via unauthenticated OAuth client registration
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Missing authentication in TaskView Community Edition before 1.56.0 allows remote attackers to register arbitrary OAuth clients without credentials. The registration endpoint accepts an unauthenticated POST, issues client credentials, and trusts an attacker-controlled redirect URI. A victim must authorize the malicious client; the captured authorization code can then be exchanged for an access token with full API access to that victim's account data.
